SolarEdge Technologies, Inc. (SEDG), a leader in smart energy technology, has announced its strategic investment in AMPEERS ENERGY, a German software start-up specializing in decarbonizing the multi-dwelling sector in Germany and Austria. The partnership aims to merge SolarEdge’s solar and smart energy solutions with AMPEERS’ software to offer an integrated photovoltaic tenant electricity solution for real estate companies. This collaboration seeks to equip landlords and tenants with a comprehensive climate-neutral solution for their building portfolios, including solar and storage generation, tenant electricity billing, EV charging, and new heating technologies.
This initiative is poised to revolutionize the installation of photovoltaic and tenant electricity solutions in multi-dwelling buildings, providing economic benefits and enhancing the accessibility of solar energy. SolarEdge’s investment in AMPEERS is a tactical move to leverage legislative shifts in Germany’s tenant electricity models, potentially opening up new markets across Europe. Zvi Lando, CEO of SolarEdge, highlighted the significance of this partnership in increasing solar energy accessibility for the significant portion of the German population living in multi-dwelling buildings. Dr. Karsten Schmidt, CEO of AMPEERS ENERGY, emphasized the holistic approach of this collaboration, aiming to offer a scalable solution for residential portfolios to adopt a climate-positive energy supply efficiently. The deal, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, is anticipated to conclude in the first half of 2024.
